Right to Life Presentation at Birth Haven
On Thursday morning, 12/18/14, members of our council presented a check for over $900, to Birth Haven in Newton, NJ, from the net proceeds from our Right to Life Drive. The Knights presented the check to Tina Figurelli, Executive Director at Birth Haven… Some of the facts that we learned while there include:
Birth Haven has been in Newton for 29 years. They can house 9 individuals and their babies at any given time. They often have a waiting list. They’ve had girls as young as 14 and in their 30s, but most residents are between the ages of 17 and 21. Girls are accepted at any stage of their pregnancy. Girls can stay for 6 weeks after giving birth, but they can request a one-month extension if needed. They currently have seven young girls. While staying at Birth Haven the girls must work or go to school to earn a GED.
