VETS SUMMER FEST 2014
On Saturday, August 9, some of our brothers volunteered at the Vets Summer Fest. Attached is a thank note from Brother’s Tony DeStefano and Deacon Ray Chimileski.
“My brother Knights, thank you so much for your help with Vets Summer Fest 2014. Some of you have been working on this for months and some of you stepped up on the big day… in either case, you did an outstanding job! Homeless veterans will have another year of services because of this success.
We do not yet have the numbers in, but if you looked at the crowd, we did better than last year. We had roughly 70 cars in the car show and almost 90 motorcycles on the run from Tramontin.
The job you did with the grill was incredible as the lines were long almost all day! It was very hot yet no one complained and you just did your jobs well… I know the sausage and peppers were a great big hit!
To my car show personnel:guides, parkers, registrars, judges, I must say you did the best job possible and I am proud of you. You took lemons and made lemonade. There were no complaints and the car people appreciated the fact that different types of cars won prizes. They said they will be back!
I understand that the 50/50 numbers exceeded those of last year as well… I hope you all had a little time left over to enjoy the show for a bit as it was a good one!
We will have some awards at the end of the year during our annual Operation Chillout “thank you” get together (or possibly sooner).
I cannot tell you how proud I am to be a Knight and to serve with brothers like you…
Thank you for everything.
